In 2018, Tonye Cole resigned from all executive roles to pursue a career in public service. He contested the governorship of Rivers State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in both 2019 and 2023.
Tonye also intends to run for Governor of Rivers State under the All Progressives Congress in 2027.
His ambition is to help Rivers State become a place where integrity and opportunity define public life, where a stronger and diversified economy brings jobs and opportunities and where political transparency and accountability creates a more prosperous and safe community.
